Missing child drowns in pond at Pa. park, police say

TREDYFFRIN TOWNSHIP, Pa. (CBS) — A 3-year-old boy who was drowning was pulled from a pond in Tredyffrin Township, Chester County, on Monday night, police said. 
Police said officers were sent out at around 7 p.m. for reports of a missing child in Wilson Farm Park off Route 202 in Chesterbrook.
Officers arrived on the scene and found the missing child in the pond, who was not responsive. Police officers tried to resuscitate the boy before he was taken to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s King of Prussia campus. 
On Tuesday, Tredyfrrin Township police confirmed the child was pronounced dead there.
Detectives were sent to the park to investigate the incident. Police said the child was under a nanny’s supervision before going missing.
“On behalf of the Tredyffrin Township Police Department, we are deeply saddened by this tragic event, and we send our deepest condolences to the child’s family,” the department said in a statement.
